When I was in college I sold Avon to help make some extra money. My mom was my best customer, she always loved Avon and it was a product I grew up with.
There is an old saying about how a really good salesman can sell ice to Eskimos. My step-grandfather was that kind of salesman, I’m not. I have to like the product I represent. I have to trust and feel good about a product before I can sell it. So, selling Avon was fun for me.
When my kids were little, I started selling Avon again. It was a good way for a stay at home mom to make money. When we moved up to the mountains, I stopped selling. At the time I had a new baby (and a three year old son) so selling Avon didn’t fit into my schedule.
I am selling Avon again. I started a couple months ago, inspired by one of their television ads. I had forgotten one of the things I once hated about selling Avon – the paperwork involved with any retail. I have a paperwork phobia.
But, selling Avon these days is really much easier, and that manual paperwork I once loathed, is virtually nonexistent. Gee, I love computers and the internet!
